At FikerLearn (operated by Abel Solomon Asfaw, located at Abado Ena Tafou 20/21, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia), we are deeply committed to safeguarding the privacy and personal data of our students, educators, and guardians. This Privacy Policy governs your access to and use of our web portal, Progressive Web App (PWA), and mobile applications (collectively, the "Service").

By accessing or using FikerLearn, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy and consent to the data practices described herein.

3. ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE (AI) ZERO-RETENTION DISCLOSURE

FikerLearn integrates Artificial Intelligence study assistants (such as Mr. Abel, Dr. Aster, and Mr. Solomon AI Tutors) powered by Google Gemini and OpenAI enterprise API endpoints.

Zero-Training & Privacy Safeguards:

Student queries and chat prompts sent to AI endpoints are processed in real time solely for providing immediate educational explanations.
Your data is NEVER used by Google, OpenAI, or FikerLearn to train, retrain, or improve foundational machine learning models.
Enterprise API agreements enforce strict data privacy and immediate deletion upon request completion.
We strongly advise students never to enter sensitive personally identifiable information (such as physical addresses or passwords) into chat prompts.

4. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY & MINOR SAFETY (COPPA & GOOGLE PLAY FAMILIES)

FikerLearn is designed for K-12 primary and secondary school students in Ethiopia (Grades 6 through 12). Protecting young learners is our highest priority:

Parental Consent: Minors under the age of 18 (and specifically under 13) must obtain permission from a parent or legal guardian prior to registering an account.
No Behavioral Tracking: We do NOT track children across third-party websites, and we do NOT serve behavioral or targeted advertising to students.
Data Minimization: We collect only the minimum information necessary to maintain study progress and deliver curriculum-aligned exam practice.
Parental Rights: Parents and guardians have the right to inspect, export, or request the immediate deletion of their child's account and study history by contacting learnenglishwithabel@gmail.com.

5. IN-APP ACCOUNT DELETION & USER RIGHTS (APPLE 5.1.1(v) & GDPR)

You have full autonomy over your personal data. In compliance with Apple App Store Review Guideline 5.1.1(v) and global data protection standards:

Self-Service Account Deletion: You can permanently delete your FikerLearn account and all associated data at any time from within the app by navigating to:

Profile > Settings > Danger Zone > Delete My Account

Upon confirming your password, your profile, quiz statistics, streak records, flashcard data, and authentication credentials are instantly and permanently purged from our Firebase Firestore databases.

6. LOCAL STORAGE, SESSION STATE & COOKIES

FikerLearn uses modern web storage (LocalStorage, SessionStorage, and IndexedDB) solely to provide a fast, seamless offline and online learning experience:

Authentication Session: Stores secure Firebase Auth tokens to keep you logged in between sessions.
Offline Study Cache: Stores completed quiz summaries and flashcard progress locally so you can continue learning during internet interruptions.
User Preferences: Remembers your selected grade level, active curriculum subject, and Dark Mode theme setting.
Zero Third-Party Advertising Cookies: We do not place third-party marketing or behavioral tracking cookies on your device.

7. DATA SECURITY & ENCRYPTION

We implement strict industry-standard technical measures to protect your information, including HTTPS/TLS 1.3 encryption for all data in transit, Google Cloud Firestore database encryption at rest, secure API authentication keys, and role-based access control rules.
